Biography
Allen Covert was born in Florida. He currently lives in Los Angeles. He's the youngest of two children -- he has an older sister.
Allen went to two colleges before ending up at NYU. That's where he met Adam Sandler, and would frequently give him free food at the nearby restaurant that he worked at. While he never really got a degree anywhere, the friendships he made are more valuable to him then any diploma.
Allen got a job at the Improv - as a doorman. He had never thought about doing stand-up comedy until some of his friends coerced him into getting on stage. After several years on the comedy circuit, he started appearing in such fine films as Going Overboard
.
He's been in just about every Sandler movie, as someone or other. He's co-produced "What's Your Name?" (And helped write just about every damn song on there,) and was a writer/performer on "They're All Gonna Laugh At You!" and "What the Hell Happened To Me?" In 1996, he opened for Adam (doing standup) on a 21 city tour. He's also appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brian. He's produced many Happy Madison films, and wrote the Kangaroo song. (That's the part that really impresses me, Hop Hop Hop Hop, whaddya say?)
As far as influences go, he's got a lot of them. Caddyshack, Animal house, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and "any of the John Hughes comedies" are his favorite flicks, he also loves Peter Sellers and Monty Python. Some of his favorite comedic albums are from Cheech and Chong (which "ruled" on his list) and Richard Pryor. The Three Stooges also rank high on his list of idols, but I think that's just a guy thing.
